Places of Interest
in and around Danbury
Danbury Country Park

Woodhill Road, Danbury (parking charges)
Within Danbury Country Park are three Lakes formed when the park was created in the 13th Century as part of a private estate. Later the lakes formed part of the ornamental gardens of Danbury Palace.
Now managed by Essex County Council, the Park includes lakes, woodland and ornamental gardens. Don't miss the Rhododendrons!
Parish Church of St John Baptist
Church Green, Main Road, Danbury

St John's is a Grade 1 Listed Building with much of interest for the visitor. The oldest part, the north aisle, dates from around 1290, but there was probably a church on the site much earlier. The present building was renovated in 1866 by the architect Gilbert Scott.

More information is available in the church, and also on the church website.
Blakes Wood
off Riffhams Chase, Little Baddow

Owned by the National Trust, Blakes Wood consists of nearly 100 acres of managed, ancient woodland. Renowned for its carpet of bluebells in spring, the woods are a lovely place for peaceful walking at any time of year.
